SHS Alumni Victims of WTC Attack Wednesday, December 5, 2001 Last Updated: July 23, 2003 The SHSAA is deeply saddened by Tuesday’s tragedies at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in southwestern Pennsylvania. We send our sympathies and condolences to those affected. Below is a list of confirmed victims that we know of. Stuyvesant High School Alumni victims of attack on the World Trade Center, 9/11/01* Mr. Daniel D. Bergstein, ’80. Graduate of Columbia University. Corporate Secretary of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, World Trade Center. Resided Teaneck, NJ. Age 38. Alan Wayne Friedlander, ’67. Graduated from City College of New York in 1972 with a Bachelor’s in Engineering, and received his MBA from NYU in 1975. He was a Senior Vice President at AON Risk Services on the 93rd Floor of 2 World Trade Center. He resided in Yorktown Heights, NY. He left behind his wife Helen, his son Steven, 26, and his daughter Laura, 23. Mr. Friedlander was 52 years old. Ms. Marina R. Gertsberg, ’93. Graduate of SUNY-Binghamton, ’97. Junior Manager at Cantor Fitzgerald, 1 World Trade Center, 101st Floor. Resided New York, NY. Age 25. Mr. Aaron Jay Horwitz, ’94. Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, ’98. Institutional Bond Trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, 1 World Trade Center, 104th Floor. Resided New York, NY. Age 24. Mr. David S. Lee, ’82. Senior Vice President at Fiduciary Trust International in 2 World Trade Center (90th, 94th-97th Floors). Resided West Orange, NJ. Age 37. Mr. Arnold A. Lim, ’90. Graduate of NYU, B.A. Business Analyst, Fiduciary Trust International, 2 World Trade Center, 97th Floor. Resided New York, NY. Left behind a fiancée whom he had planned to marry September 2002. Age 28. Mr. Gregory D. Richards ’88. Graduate of University of Michigan, ’92, B.A. in Economics. e-Speed, Cantor Fitzgerald, 1 World Trade Center. Resided New York, NY. Left behind wife, Erin, and 2-year old son, Asher. Age 30. Ms. Maurita Tam, ’97. Graduate of Amherst University, ’01. Executive Assistant, AON Corporation, 2 World Trade Center, 99th Floor. Resided New York, NY. Age 22. Lt. Mike Warchola, ’68. Graduate of University of Buffalo, Majored in English. Lieutenant in New York City Fire Department, Ladder Co. No. 5, 6th Avenue & Houston St., Manhattan. Resided Middle Village (Queens), NY. Age 51. *Confirmed dead by The Associated Press on the CNN Web site 12/27/01 at www.cnn.com/specials/2001/trade.center/victims/rescue.victims.html and cross-checked with the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Directory. Note that there may be additional Stuyvesant alumni victims we haven’t been informed of yet. |
